Bio

McClintock High School Assistant Defensive Backs Coach Joey Paet brings a decade of football coaching experience and a strong connection to the Chargers program. Coach Paet has been coaching football for 10 years, including five years at the high school level, all of which have been spent at McClintock. His time within the program has allowed him to build lasting relationships with players while becoming an important part of the culture surrounding Charger Football.

Throughout his time at McClintock, Paet has taken on several different responsibilities within the program. He has served as a Varsity Defensive Backs Coach while also working at the lower levels as a Freshman Defensive Coordinator and Co-Head Coach. Those experiences have given him the opportunity to work with athletes at different stages of their development, from players just entering the high school program to varsity athletes preparing to compete at the highest level.

For Coach Paet, coaching has always been about more than football. While developing players technically and preparing them to compete is important, his greater purpose is being a mentor for the younger generation. He believes coaches have an opportunity to teach lessons that extend far beyond wins and losses, emphasizing accountability, discipline, respect, hard work, and doing things the right way. His goal is to help young players mature throughout their time in the program and ultimately leave McClintock better prepared to become successful young adults.

Away from the football field, Coach Paet is a proud father of four. His experiences as a father have played an important role in shaping the way he approaches coaching and mentorship. Whether working with defensive backs, coordinating a defense, or helping guide younger players through the program, Coach Paet strives to make a lasting impact on the young men he coaches and help them become better players, students, teammates, and people.
