Bio
McClintock High School Defensive Backs Coach Trevin Wade brings a wealth of collegiate and NFL experience to the Chargers football program. Wade played collegiately at the University of Arizona, where he was a three-year starter in the secondary and earned two All-Pac-12 selections during his career. His success at Arizona eventually led to an opportunity to compete at the highest level of the game.
In 2012, Wade was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and went on to appear in 47 NFL games during his professional career. He spent time with four NFL organizations—the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, and New York Giants. His experience playing defensive back at both the Power Conference and NFL levels gives McClintock's secondary the opportunity to learn the position from someone who understands exactly what it takes to perform at an elite level.
Wade has since transitioned his playing experience into a successful coaching career. Most recently, he served as the Secondary Coach and Pass Game Coordinator at UTEP, helping lead a defense that achieved its highest defensive rating since 2016. Along with his football background, Wade holds a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, further demonstrating his commitment to teaching, developing, and mentoring young people.
At McClintock, Coach Wade brings an emphasis on technique, preparation, communication, and playing the defensive back position with confidence and intelligence. Away from football, he is a proud husband and father of four. His experiences as a player, educator, coach, husband, and father have shaped his approach to developing student-athletes both on the field and in their lives beyond football.
